What exactly is the white stuff?

Why did the patch not turn white?
The usual reason is that the pimple has not surfaced. A deep or under-skin bump holds its contents below the surface, and hydrocolloid cannot pull what it cannot touch.
The second reason is patch type. A patch sitting on a blackhead, a dry scab, or a closed bump has little fluid to absorb, so it stays clear.

When should you switch approach?
If a bump stays painful and headless after a full overnight wear, hydrocolloid is the wrong tool for that stage. The patch is not failing, it just has nothing to absorb yet.

What should you do after the patch turns white?
